Prepare for ZERO HISTORY by William Gibson

"Someone is developing what may prove to be a somewhat new way to transmit brand vision."
"A certain genuinely provocative use of negative space.

"Who?"

"I don't kno," he said. "I haven't been able to find out.I feel that someone has read and understood my playbook. And may possibly be extending it.

"Then send Pamela. She understands all that. Or someone else."

"But that is exactly it. Because they 'understand all that' they won't find the edge. they won't find the new. And worse, they'll trample on it, inadvertently crush it, beneath a certain mediocrity inherent in professional competence."
"I need a wild card. I need you."
"Does 'The Gabriel Hounds' mean anything to you?"

"Bigend Books" trilogy by William Gibson

Hubertus Bigend is one of the characters who appears in Pattern Recognition and Spook Country and who must survive the editing process to appear in the forthcoming Zero History

The original WIkipedia entry (9 August 2007) for Hubertus Bigend created for a fictional character who ,at the time of first publication of the novel Spook Country, did not have a real Wikipedia entry, but did have a fictional one in print.

Note on the pronunciation of "Bigend"

Spook Country Chapter 13 Boxes page 62

Angelina re-iterates , her concern about your being, however indirectly or only potentially employed by le Bigend, which she points out is more correctly pronounced "bay-jend", sort of, but seldom is, she says, even by him.

The self=referential paradox regarding "sources" or "original research" which this posed for the Wikipedia editors and their collective , pettifogging "policies" regarding" sources" and "original research" amused many cyberpunk fiction fans.

The "hyperspace cloud" which now surrounds William Gibson's writing and also the analysis and criticism by fans and by professional critics, will become even more confusing withZero History.

Many of the "original sources" will be even more ephemeral consisting as they do of short blog postings and Twitterings / Tweets, some of which only have a couple of (important) words regarding Zero History.

William Gibson's Twitter feed - GreatDismal

William Gibson is now a keen user of Twitter, rather than his now seemingly abandoned blog, so that is now the most likely place to find the latest news about his writing, or travels etc.

It is also the place to spot his occaisinal requests to his fans, for help with research on specific background details, some of which may, or may not, end up in the finished novel Zero History which he is currently working on.
