"Field Intelligence Officer" emails:
"I am being investigated by the Home Office for my contact with Spyblog. The Home Office found out about it. I am to be removed from my current duties, I have to work at another location while the investigation takes place."
The only contact we have had with "Field Intelligence Officer" has been to read some of his own notes and summaries he and his legal advisors have prepared for a forthcoming Employment Tribunal case.
We are well known to some people at the Home Office, as we have written to them regarding various official consultations, Freedom of Information Act requests etc. They admittedly have a difficult job to do, but this is partly as a result of their own overly complicated legislation and policies.
However, to imply that there is anything dubious in contacting Spy Blog is a slur on our reputation, and almost certainly a denial of free speech.
See this recent posting and comments for some background to this:
What will happen if the UK political blogosphere or the mainstream media take up this story ?
