NuLabour seems to be set to re-introduce a Bill to for a compulsory centralised biometric database National Identity Register and associated (but secondary) ID Card. The hints are that it will be substantially the same as the badly draughted, impractical, hugely expensive and repressive Identity Cards Bill which only just failed to be passed in the last Parliament. It is expected that the Second Reading of this Bill will be on June 3rd, just after the Whitsun recess.
Please contact your local Member of Parliament, especially if they were not in the previous Parliament, and tell them to vote against such a Bill (WriteToThem provides a convenient way of finding and contacting your local MP).
If you have already signed the NO2ID online Petition, then you cannot sign it again, but you can get all your friends and and associates to sign it.
