What is it with the NuLabour political zombies ? No sooner has the collective fury of the public against the appointment of Tony Blair as the unelected "President of Europe" started to be felt, then a couple of stories are planted in the media, citing anonymous sources, e.g. The Times: David Miliband touted for EU foreign post as Blair's chances wane and The Guardian: David Miliband tipped as EU foreign minister

Technically the job title iis "High Representative for Foreign Affairs".

Is this some sort of plan B, bearing in mind that it is inconceivable that both position would be filled by candidates from the same EU country at the same time.

David Miliband is an awful NuLabour apparatchik, who has crept smoothly from University to Think Tank to political commissar, to Minister

Whilst Minister for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)., Miliband was responsible for the scandals and fiascos at the Rural Payments Agency, which involved incompetent,out of control civil servants and managers. This agency, for which Miliband was responsible for, manged somehow, due to its bureaucratic red tape and IT disasters, to utterly fail in its only mission, to properly distribute European Union Farm subsidy payments, its only function. It did this so utterly incompetently, that the European Commission ended up fining the UK government as a result, after causing unnecessary financial hardship to the United Kingdom's farmers.

Whilst in charge of DEFRA, Miliband also came out withy an incredible control freak plan for a tradable Personal Carbon Credit Card, which would also track the smallest details of people's daily lives, e.g. buying food, or fuel or travel etc.This wold have instantly have created a black market for spivs, and speculators, and would have been abused by private sector and state snoopers, intent on prying into people's private lives. No doubt there would also have been some Soviet GOSPLAN style rationing attempts to fly in the face of economic forces of supply and demand, This would not have saved the planet from global warming, but it is indicative of the NuLabour bureaucratic control freak mindset, untainted by practicality, open to abuse and corruption, which they are willing to force on to the rest of us.

That alone should disqualify Miliband from representing the European Union as a whole, but there is more evidence of his incompetence and liability as an international diplomat.

Promoted to Foreign Secretary, to prevent him from challenging the incompetent Gordon Brown for the unelected leadership of the Labour Party, David Miliband has been a disaster in that role.

Incredibly, he managed to personally insult the President of India, and their Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, after the Mumbai terrorist attacks - see, for example The IndependentMiliband's trip to India 'a disaster', after Kashmir gaffe

The relations diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and the Russian Federation have fallen back to Cold War era levels, for which Miliband must take some of the blame personally.

His recent fawning on President Barack Obama at the United Nations Security Council session was also embarrassing to watch.

Just because he grins and smirks a lot, does not make him personally charming, and he is an utter public relations disaster, as shown by his posing for photographs holding a banana., for no good reason except self promotion.

How can this qualify him to represent the European Union in talks or negotiations with major powers like Russia or India ?

None of this makes him in any way suitable for the "European Union Foreign Minister" role.

The European Union faces many big problems in the future, but Tony Blair and David Miliband are is part of those problems, not an answer to them.

The anonymous media briefings and spin (e.g. in The Times) have started up again, that somehow, after the Irish referendum vote on the Lisbon Treaty, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Tony Blair, is somehow set to be appointed as the unelected President of the European Council when the Treaty is ratified.

How likely that Tony Blair will give up his lucrative money making speaking tours and his supposedly high profile international diplomatic role as a Middle East peace envoy ? He benefits financially and prestige wise, with his Office of Tony Blair in the 18th Century John Adams house, number 9 Grosvenor Square, London

This is paid for , to the tune of more than half a million pounds a year for the office rent alone, by the Quartet on the MIddle East i.e. the United States of America, the Russian Federation, the United Nations and the European Union, for some vague, unattainable Peace Envoy role in the Middle East. It is also a prestigious office, near the US Embassy etc. useful for his lucrative speaking tours, investment bank directorships and for his Sports Foundation and Faith Foundation.

None of these activities are compatible with a "President of Europe" role - but desperate, grasping politicians may choose to overlook this.

The European Union faces many big problems in the future, but Tony Blair is part of those problems, not an answer to them.

The BBC reports that Minister's wife takes over Ofsted

A government minister's wife has been appointed as the new chief inspector of schools in England.

Former head teacher Christine Gilbert is married to Home Office minister Tony McNulty. The Department for Education and Skills has denied "cronyism".

Is she really the only former headmaster or headmistress who could have been promoted to this job ? Did being married to a Blairite Minister like Tony McNulty really have no bearing on the appointment ?

Lord David Sainsbury (£2 million) - what on earth is a Government Minister (for Science) doing donating or lending lots of money to the Government party ?

Would this supermarket businessman, have kept his ministerial job, or even have been appointed to it in the first place, had he not been a financial backer of the Labour Party ?

Rod Aldridge (£1 million), is the chairman of Capita Group plc, who have been given Government contracts for repressive NuLabour mass surveillance and database projects such as the Criminal Records Bureau, the London Congestion Charge, both of which which have gone over budget at the taxpayers expense, but shich Capita had the taxpayer over a barrel, and could not be kicked off the projects. They also collect the controversial BBC TV Licence fee.

With so much of his personal fortune and that of his company dependent on fat Governemnt IT contracts, perhaps it was a "forced" loan ?

It must really hearten traditonal working class Labour voters to see that their party is funded by the likes of Richard Caring (£2 million) who owns, amongst other things, The Ivy and Le Caprice, some of the most expensive and snobbish restaurants in London, which, of course, have been "reviewed" by Ken Livingstone.

The Buncefield fuel depot explosion seems to have flummoxed the Labour Party website spin machine.

Northgate Information Solutions do a lot of web work for the Government.

They used to employ Sir Stephen Lander as a non-executive director, between the time that he was the Director General of the Security Service MI5 and his appointment as the Chairman of the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

For this company to be hosting the Labour Party website seems like a conflict of interest.

The Observer has a couple of reports about NuLabour Minister's family business dealings, and those of ex-Ministers.

There are questions about the business dealings of the husband of Minister for Culture, Media and Sport (and the Olympics) Tessa Jowell, which involved controversial arms sales negotiations with Iran, and the then Foreign Office Minister Baroness Symons in 2002.

Baroness Symons herself is one of the ex-Ministers who is now on the the private sector lobbyist gray train, according to a second story in the Observer. She has now been called back into the most sensitive Government service to negotiate "please promise not to torture these emarassing foreign terrorist suspects so that we can deport them" agrreements with various North African and Middle Eastern police states.

Her various lucrative appointments since the May Election have been approved by the Advisory Committee on Business Appointments, but how can the public be sure that her promise not to get directly involved in Government lobbying is true ? How about indirect lobbying, sharing her private list of contact phone numbers and email addresses etc ?

Such questions have to be asked of any former Minister so soon after they have left their Ministerial position of power and influence.

Who is going to check on Tony and Cherie Blair's business contacts after he steps down as Prime Minister ?

The Mial on Sunday apparently reports that Cherie Blair was hobbnobbing with the business people who control the controversial DNA Biosciences company involved in the David Blunkett affair.

The Sunday Mirror speculated about Prime Minister Tony Blair's plans for a propserous retirement.

The Carlyle Group are investors in various military defence companies, including the semi privatised Qinetiq, which sells British Government sponsored military research to the private sector.

They have been touting their Passive Millimetre Wave "see through your children's clothes" scanners on the bandwagons of hysteria over schoolchildren carrying knives, and the London Tube bombings.

It will be worth watching if multi-million pound contracts are let by the NuLabour Government to Qinetiq whilst Tony Blair is Prime Minister or afterwards.

What role will the controversial Lord Drayson, who was appointed by Tony Blair as Defence Procurement Minister, play in such contracts ?

The Sunday Times has led their front page with a bit of a non-story about Lord Drayson's former use of offshore tax havens - what do they expect from a multi-millionaire who employs professional tax advisors ? Don't Rupert Murdoch or some of the Sunday Times staff also do this ?

Well, the good news is, that according to his potted Ministerial Biography, he has a BSc(Hons) in Production engineering and a PhD in Robotics, which must be a good thing given the complexity of modern warfare.

The bad news is that he has been appointed Under Secretary of State and Minister for Defence Procurement !

No wonder his position is unpaid ! How many billions will he be able to make once he leaves office, with his detailed inside knowledge of massive Defence contracts ?

By not taking a salary, do the normal rules for ex-Ministers and conflicts of interest apply ?

Tony McNulty MP for Harrow East is now Minister of State at the Home Office, presumably replacing Des Browne, in charge of Citizenship and Immigration (who in turn had replaced the disgraced Beverely Hughes). Will he really be spearheading the re-introduction of the controversial Identity Cards Bill ?

David Blunkett is back in the Cabinet as Work and Pensions minister.

Who thinks that the £100 billion social security and pensions budget paid out every year will be safe in his hands ? The Department for Work and Pensions is much bigger than the Home Office, which Blunkett could not manage properly.

Is it really a good idea to have someone with Blunkett's dodgy private life involving bastard children and his pregnant married ex-mistress being dragged through the courts, and incessant media spin, to be in charge of the vulnerable people who depend on the Child Support Agency ?

Will Blunkett's communist authoritarian instincts lead to even more intrusive snooping and means testing, Data Mining and Racial Profiling by the DWP ?

Since the DWP is one of the main targets of Gordon Brown's alleged job cuts and efficiency savings, one can staff expect morale, and therefore standards of service to the public, in this Department, to plummet with the appointment of David "Mastermind" Blunkett who will inevitably be seen to be making tens of thousands of civil servants redundant.
