The major TV organisations all have a vested commercial interest in the London 2012 Olympic Bid, their sports and technical broadcasting divisions could make millions of pounds - whoopee for them.
The annoying need to comply with minimal broadcasting standards does mean that both the BBC and ITV are currently scratching around for some token opponents to the Bid, to humiliate on air.
e.g. the patronising email we got from ITV "London Tonight"
"I'd be grateful if you could supply a name and a contact number for someone from the group should we want to include your voice in this week's coverage of the IOC's visit"
How generous of them ! Our experience of these local news programmes is very disheartening. They demand that, at the drop of a hat, to meet their poorly planned schedules, you give up at least two hours of your time, for free, and then, if you are extraordinarily lucky, what you have been patiently explaining to them for over an hour gets cut, out of context , into a sound bite of as little as 5 or 10 seconds. The full time paid media spokespersons from the Bid team will, no doubt get rather more time to put over their views.
If anybody does feel that they can be bothered to take part in this week's biased media events, then email us and we will give you the contact details of the BBC and ITV researchers and programme editors who have been in contact.
