Petition against the expansion of the Congestion Charge Zone

| | Comments (9)

The Forum of Private Business has an online petition against the Mayor's planned expansion of the Congestion Charge Zone.

The existing Congestion Charge Zone has resulted in a loss of individual privacy, a loss of trade and massive profits for Capita PLC. Capita have not bothered to deliver an efficient and courteous public service, since they have the Mayor over a barrel, and have extracted millions from the public purse to fix technical problems which were their responsibility.

There seem to have been some marginal effects on air pollution in the central zone, but no evidence of any resultant improvement in the health of Londoners overall, and no overall reduction in traffic congestion in the rest of London.

On top of all these failings, the Mayor is increasing the Congestion Charge by a massive ammount from £5 to £8 a day, with no justification.

To expand the Congestion Charge Zone westwards, and, even around Heathrow seems to be utter folly.

Perhaps Londoners will take heart from the people of Edinburgh who recently voted against having a Congestion Charge.

Why are Londoners not being given a referendum on the same issue ?

We believe the mayor and transport for london want your congestion charge fines. If this is not the case, why are they trying to shut down a service that stops people getting fined by paying the congestion charge for them ?

If every single person who disagrees with the extension, refuses to pay and co-operate what would happen? Clearly protesting doesnt impact on the megalomaniacal Mr Livingstone.Petitions etc are a waste of time, the man doesnt listen. The residents of K&C are far too polite & genteel to challenge this arsehole.

I believe the congestion charge is appalling, as I live in Kent and when I come to London on public transport at peak period, I have to pay 27 plus. This money which I can use to fill up my Micra for only 23.00 and still have over half tank petrol on return from travelling to London.

Instead of the congestion charge, why not improve public transport and reduce the cost we pay, that makes perfect sense!

I have registered on 8th Feb for charge to start 19th Feb 2007. I have paid in advance. I am being charged from 8th Feb. 2007 the day I registered. What a fraud. I want my money returned or letter sent for the charge to start from 19th as it states in the booklet.

This is outragious. As a removal company we are plagued by the CC and traffic wardens and camerias who who issue tickets and involve us in excessive admin in order to chalange PCN's at a cost to us of 30 per letter.

People cannot afford yet more taxes. We nearly all live on credit and overdrafts. Why people want to flock to our country I don't know. Every English person I know wants to leave. Proud to be British - Those days are gone.

As a Driving instructor I'm worried about this making lesson costs too high for people to learn to drive.
Although I agree with the principle, the way forward would be to improve on public transport.

A Big NO to congestion charges

Its about time you people stop taking money of the working man or woman who use their cars to get from a to b and that includes travelling to work. If you want to come up with so called schemes to stop congestion then make them free. One example is to increase the age for driving which also would not go down well. The other one is to make the traffic flow better than having all these traffic lights and slow speed restrictions when the road is not dangerous and rather than a speed restriction that is fixed why not make these variable for the amount of traffic that is about throughout the day. Or employ some professionals who can sort out the job in hand without ripping the public off. We pay through the nose to run a car more than the rest of the world.

I have just driven down the A40 this morning, and to my great surprise is what looks like new congestion charging camera's just passed the hoover building on the eastbound and between Hanger Lane and Perivale on the westbound, I hope this Idiot of a Mayor isn't trying to suck more of the West Londoner's hard earned money out of them. Isn't it about time we did something about this loony lefty Mayor and voted him OUT.

Hints and Tips for Whistleblowers

There are many good people trapped in the bureaucracies which run London. If you are thinking about blowing the whistle on shadowy and powerful people in Government or commerce, and their dubious policies then you need be very careful these days. The mainstream media and bloggers also need to take simple precautions to help preserve the anonymity of their sources e.g.
