The Observer reports "London's Olympic dream in tatters"

Can this be true ? Or is it a public relations ploy to try to rally support ?

We have had several comment postings and emails looking for somewhere to protest against the hype and vested interests involved in the London 2012 Olympics bid

We do not have the resources to run such a campaign, but these websites should help you find out more about the dubious business case for the bid and to join in protests which might just frighten off the International Olympic Committee from inflicting the Olympic Games on London and United Kingdom taxpayers.

Scrap London's Olympic Bid

N.B. opposing the London 2012 Olympic Bid does not mean opposing the idea of UK sports people winning lots of Olympic medals at a Games somewhere else, which the vast majority of people even in the host city, will only ever see via television.

Does anybody have any suggestions for reasonable Freedom of Information Act requests to public bodies in London, e.g. The Mayor, Transport for London, the Metropolitan Police, London Resilience etc ?

If so, have a look at the UK FOIA request tracking blog, bearing in mind the large list of exemptions

We have had a request from a researcher for BBC London's "Inside Out" programme seeking opponents of the London 2012 Olympic bid.

This is in line with the Corporation's stated policy of "balance" and "fairness", but, bear in mind that the BBC do have a vested commercial corproate interest in a "successful bid".

Anyone who has appeared on local TV or Radio knows that the hour or so of your time you give them, often ends up as a mere 5 or 10 second soundbite, out of context.

Anybody who does wish to be put in contact with the BBC programme researcher, feel free to email us or to comment here.

Hints and Tips for Whistleblowers

There are many good people trapped in the bureaucracies which run London. If you are thinking about blowing the whistle on shadowy and powerful people in Government or commerce, and their dubious policies then you need be very careful these days. The mainstream media and bloggers also need to take simple precautions to help preserve the anonymity of their sources e.g.
