The crude oil price rises are filtering through to raise domestic energy prices in the UK.
British Gas raised their prices in September, leading many customers to switch to Powergen, however:
The BBC reports that Powergen has announced increases for electricity and gas of around 9% from later on this month i.e. an increase of over 17% in gas prices over the last year.
"Powergen sets out new price rises
UK energy giant Powergen has announced it is to increase its prices once again this year.
Gas prices for consumers are to rise by 9.6% - the third rise this year - while electricity prices will be increased by 8.9%, the German-owned firm said.
The increase means that gas prices for the company's six million customers will have surged by 17.6% during the course of 2004 alone.
It was the second rise for electricity prices, which jumped 6.9% in January.
More soon."
