Scottish Studies Zoom Talks
Since the cancellation of all our in-person events we invite you join us online via Zoom as we present a series of talks on a variety of topics of interest to Scots worldwide and which will allow "attendees" to participate and to ask questions.
The first in this series will be given by Professor Kevin James, the new Scottish Studies Foundation Chair at the University of Guelph. As most of us find ourselves confined to discovering the riches of our own region this autumn, Kevin explores what gave rise to the fashionable Scottish Highland tour in the nineteenth century, illustrating his discussion with images, offering examples of sporting tourists, artists, climbers and other travellers, and explaining why the region still has a hold over our imagination to this day. Kevin's research explores modern Scottish travel history, with a focus on hotels.
To register for this event, kindly contact David Hunter by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will then be sent the approriate Zoom login information. Please register no later than Saturday, October 3rd. This is a free event, but a donation would be appreciated. All donations will support students in Scottish Studies at the University of Guelph.
You can donate, either online by clicking on the PayPal button above, or by mail using our donation form which you can access here. Your support will be greatly appreciated.
